A community event open to all AASD middle school students and their families is planned for Thursday, March 16, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Wilson/Magellan Middle School, 225 N. Badger Avenue, Appleton. The evening will include a Resource Fair, a COVID-19 booster opportunity, board games, and relevant, educational presentations. Please enter using the front entrance of Wilson/Magellan Middle School.
A Community Resource Fair will run from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. in the first-floor hallway with community agencies, organizations, and non-profits in attendance such as:

- United Hmong American Association (UHAA)
- Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC)
- Fox Valley Literacy
- Appleton West Youth Basketball Association (AWYBA)
- AASD Summer School
- Tigers Football

Families will learn more about the varied resources in our community, everything from healthy pastimes to ways to keep our children safe.
Gnome Games is providing board games for families to try out and play in the Wilson Library Media Center (LMC) from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. to encourage families to interact in a fun, technology-free way. Games will also be available for purchase through Gnome Games with a portion being donated to Wilson/Magellan.
We encourage our parents/guardians to also attend presentations in the Wilson gym with their students to learn more about:
- 6:00 p.m. Risks and Consequences of Vaping, an interactive presentation with Cindy Czarnik - Neimeyer MS, CPS - Prevention Specialist and Therapist, along with Community Action for Healthy Living, a non-profit 501-C3 Coalition located in Kaukauna, that promotes healthy lifestyles. They use community education, local and statewide policy, and our members’ expertise to reduce the number of people harmed by tobacco. CAHL partners with community organizations, educational institutions, businesses, and law enforcement organizations to address tobacco-related issues.
- 6:30 p.m. Preventing Sexting, from the Appleton Police Department
Free COVID-19 Pfizer Bivalent boosters will be available in partnership with Multicultural Coalition, Inc., Casa Hispana Inc., NEW Hmong Professionals, Partnership Community Health Center, Pointters Community Initiatives, and the City of Appleton Health Department. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The COVID booster clinic will be in the Multipurpose Room.
Families are welcome to stay and check out a musical performance of Peter Pan, from the Wilson/Magellan Middle School Drama Club at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door for $5.
